Hello all, Sure am homesick. Living in Exile in Kentucky.  Do they still have little Resturants selling fried clams and Clam rolls in Maine?  Just wondering. Here you cannot get a real clam-only clam strips without the bellies!

Pls check your local PBS listings for the Veteran's Day showing of the documentary, The Way We Get By. It is about those fine seniors who greet our military personnel, day and night, at the Bangor Airport. I was privileged to view the film last summer and, yes, you'll catch some background scenery of Bangor and Brewer, but the movie is MUCH, MUCH MORE! Very moving and goes straight to the heart. You'll see the strength, character and perseverance in these individuals and be reminded why you are proud to be a Mainer, whatever your zipcode.

To Cheryl in Norcross and MSD in Hampton, GA, I, too, was raised in Maine--Albion--but left there in 1969 "to find myself"!  After bouncing around the world in a military marriage, settled here in Middle GA.  We visit Maine ONLY in the summer months, however. (hate the cold weather) Did enjoy my fair share of lobster this past July.

Hi Keith in Stockton, I have an email friend in The County that maintains a photo list. I believe he is in Mapleton. He sends out landscape  and wildlife pics from County all the time, bear, moose, eagle, hawk, raccoon, fox , owl, ducks on pond pics and events like hot air balloon meets, snowmobile races, agricultural stuff. Let me know if you would like  to sign up with him and I will send you the info.

Hi there! I do not recall if I've filled out this form before; if I did, it was some time ago. I was born in Fort Kent, Maine, and raised in Portage, Maine, about a 3-hour drive north of Bangor. I went to high school in Ashland, Maine, and then went to the University of Southern Maine. I came out ot California in 1983 on a national student exchange program and just stayed. But my Mom continues to live in Aroostook County and my sister and her family live in western Maine. I suppose I miss everything about Maine ... except the extremely cold winters. I am even looking for work in Maine/New England, but haven't had much luck.

To Heather in Denver:  Ever since the movie Hocus Pocus came out, it has become a Halloween tradition--first with my daughter and now her children.  We're getting ready to watch it again.  The setting is Salem, Mass.

PMK sorry to hear about that, what was your Mom's name and cousin maybe I know them or of them. I left Cherryfield in '68 and Maine in '77. You can email me that info if you want rather than post it here.

This has been such a snow filled October here in Denver, all the Halloween spirit has been sucked out of me.  Hope everyone in Maine has an awesome Halloween- there is nothing like Halloween in New England- its the only place I have lived where Halloween feels real, not manufactured.

To Loreen in Austin, TX
I know people who grew up in Carmel.  Are you familiar with the Nute family?  big family...one of them might have a picture or be able to help you out.  I think Jimmy still lives in Carmel.

I am leaving for a 10 day stay in Bangor area this Fri. the 30th.  Will be visiting several areas and getting all the great Maine foods that I love.
Any advise for flying?  The last time I flew up to Maine I was ill for 4 months, and now with the Swine Flu, I don't want to take any chances.    Thanks.

Hi Brian Tucker
Who is your sister--maybe I know her.

EBS in Jacksonville, NC  I've been to Deer Isle, in fact, I had a job interview there many years ago and didn't get hired.  My mom and some of her friends made an annual trip to Stonington for lunch and to see the pond lilies.  It was one of the simple pleasures that she loved and looked forward to.

I was some what forced to move 2 weeks ago from Brunswick due to no jobs in the area that fit my career. I've relocated to Ellington, CT and I know absolutely nobody here and so far, I hate it! I really wish I was back in Maine :(

I left my hometown of Fryeburg, ME to pursue a career in acting in New York City. What I miss most? The crisp autumn air, the Saco River swims, the evening orchestra of crickets, the friendly/familar people and the stars... my god the how I miss the stars!

I come back as much as I can to re-juice.  :)
