Nancy/Lynn, Hi Nancy thank you I did get thru to Al West  via his brother in law. We have caught up pretty  well and will stay in touch now. I am forwarding lot of my AZ photos so he can see my neck of the woods, then he sends me ice and snow pics lol. I too knew some Rolfes, I graduated with Andy, never met Ambrose but went to school with his wife Linda. Happy New year.

Hi!

I grew up in Maine and miss it so much. I lived there till I was 18 and went to college; and then lived there so more on breaks and after college. I was in Montana for a bit and ended up in New York state for housing reasons; but I still miss Maine very much. It just feels like home to me. The beautiful scenery, the people, Portland...I love it.

In celebration of the great state of Maine and the new year of 2009, I wrote this essay called "Top Ten New Year's Resolutions for Mainers." I would appreciate if anyone would take a look at it and let me know what you think - I hope it makes you remember your home state with a smile! I aimed for humor and descriptiveness.

The essay is located at
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1300605/top_ten_new_years_resolutions_for_mainers.html?cat=2
and please let me know what you think!

Thanks

Been away too long. I regret losing contact with the people I knew from years gone by. Time is short and I would enjoy hearing from any of them.

Happy New Year everyone!!  Spent Dec 26th thru 29th in South Portland and Windham visiting family.  Had a great trip and the weather was okay (no snowstorms).  Didn't get to eat any seafood as we were busy stuffing ourselves with all the Christmas foods but I did have an Amotos Italian.  It was yummy.  Hope everyone had a great holiday season.  Looks like I'll be heading back to Maine in February.  Bet I'll see a few snow storms then..lol

Happy New Year!  Just finished a nice seafood meal of shrimp and scallops.  Not sure if the scallops were from Maine, but they were good.  Said they were wild caught and I bought them from BJ's.  Packed for a company out of Natick MASS  I try to buy NC shrimp when I can, the fishermen here have many of the same issues the Lobstermen and other fishermen from Maine have.  By the way, if you need a seafood fix, BJ's Wholesale clubs sell Legal Seafood Clam Chowder...it is too good.

Lynn Rolfe:  Where are you from?  I knew lots of Rolfes from the Milbridge area.

I haven't been home, but my family and friends keep me posted on the snow and cold.

I was pleasantly surprised to turn on my car radio the other day and hear a true Downeast Maine accent.  Dick Gordon, The Story, on NPR was interviewing the president of the Maine Lobstermen's Association...it was not only nice to hear, but very familiar.  It was Clive Farren of Boothbay.  I was teaching at Boothbay Region when he was a teacher!  :)

Brian Tucker, were you ever able to reach A. West?  I hope the e-mail address I sent you helped.

Not much going on here, cold, wet and rainy ..34 degrees and rain (that's usually the typical Jan here in Wake Forest).  I did manage to watch a loon on the lake most of the morning.  It was beautiful Christmas Day though, we went for a long boat ride, nearly 70 degrees.

Happy Ney Year exilers! I got it all this year: being home again for (a very white - 20") Christmas AND for New Year's Eve. What more can I ask for?
It snowed a tad yesterday and it's only 10 degrees today with some blustery winds, making the wind chill temps sub-zero. But you know what? I'm not gonna feel it. After last night's festivities, I'll only be seeing the couch today. LOL
Have a happy and prosperous 2009, folks.
Ayuh.....have a wicked good one.
Cheers,
Steve

Surprised to see the former maine-iacs living in Jacksonville, NC.  I retired from the Marine Corps 18 years ago and retired in Jacksonville.  I am currently teaching school and am amazed at the number of Maine folks that pass through here.  Sure can not beat the weather here.
