Just moved to Greensburg, PA after living in Dresden for 22 years.  Forced here to make a living after Maine Yankee shut down.  My parents are both native Mainers (East Parsonsfield & Orr's Island) but unfortunately moved to Knoxville, Tenn for my dad to attend grad school just before I was born.  I like to tell everyone that I was conceived at the old Cornish Drive-in (does that count?), but my mother doesn't see any humor in that. I guess the thing I miss most is not being able to walk my old dog down to the Kennebec chasing grouse on a nice autumn afternoon.

My son was given a kitten by one of my mom's Biddeford coworkers. It occurred to me that kitty is a M.I.E.

Don't worry, we take him to visit often.

WOW! The BoSox in the series. I remember the last two times vivdly. In '75, I was driving back home from Florida where I'd been exiled for a mere month (couldn't take being away), and I found myself stopping on the side of the road because the AM station I was listening to the game on was fading and I couldn't risk losing my signal. In '86 I lived in Lisbon Falls and had to fight my wife for the remote- she's not quite the fan that I am. Now all we can do is hope and pray that we'll all have something to cheer about in a week! I guess coming this far is plenty to cheer about, but winning the series will be the icing on the cake, so to speak. Go SOX!

To David Burch. Are you related to Duane and Kim Burch? I'm from Freeport, but hung around and lived in Brunswick for a good many years. They lived out towards Mere Point Road. I got to know them @ The Castaways where my band played frequently. It was open from '78 thru '86.....

I've been wicked bad! It's been almost 2 years since I visited this wonderful site. Mainers in Exile has, in the past, provided me with delicious Whoopie Pie and Pumpkin Whoopie Pie recipes. I'm still searching for 1981 Cony grads, so please respond if you are one of them! Say a prayer for me down here with my wonderful family in Gainesville, FL. We were hit by 2 of the 4 hurricanes (lots of tree damage) and we still have repairs to make. HOWEVER, we are lucky to be alive, healthy and only 3 days away from the great state of Maine! Oh, how I miss it. I called it "Disgusta" (Augusta)when I was there as a child/teen, but I've changed my tune now:)

I miss being in Maine after watching our beloved Red Sox stage the greatest comeback in Baseball history. I miss that more than a pizza or italian( Cossetta's in St. Paul rivals any ME establishment) or even fried clams( Mac's Fish 'n' Chips on Larpenteur).I was there for the collapse of '86 and the heartbreak of '75, now that I am 'away' we did it against the arch rival Yankee. Every fan of the Red Sox from Madawaska to Kittery can be proud of our bunch of 'idiots'. It is not over though, lets continue this starting Saturday!!!

Well ya know I really don't give a damn about sports but what can ya say....There's ice forming on the lake of fire in hell and Satan bought some earmuffs (Maine earmuffs of course) and the Red Sox are going to the World Series....the Yankees are so arrogant they needed to be brought down and only the Red Sox could do that....Now the only thing that would be more excruciating would be a World Series between the Red Sox and the Cubs. LOL GO RED SOX!!!

I was born an' raised in Maine. Brunswick to be exact. Dr. Winklebauer.
I'm in Plymouth, MA now. Missing the rugged Granite Mid-coast the most. Would love to run up to Bar Harbor for a day hike and catch an early Diner type breakfast.

I've been in exile for over 20 years.  Can you believe that as I crossed the Piscataqua River Bridge in 1983, I cracked a bottle of champagne in celebration?  Ah, the folly of the young.  Now, I long for the ocean, a stone's throw from my childhood home, and the smell of summer's salty fog lingering in pine.  I can't get back often enough to see my family, and friends from USM.  My children love spending summer weeks with Grammy and Papa; time will come when we can return permenantly.  For now, I savor the occasional can of Moxie spirited by friends from Vermont to the wasteland of western New York.

Speaking of Sebago..there is a great camera site that shows the lake, mountains, etc.  Go to http://sebagocam.com. Last month I spent 10 glorious days on Sebago Lake; visiting friends.  Heaven.
Another web site is  http://hazecam.net/Acadia.   Use the menu for other sites. Some in progress, but all are interesting.
