Maine State Girl

She was the very ideal of elegance in this image from a postcard dated early in the 1900's.  With pine cone and tassel and the official Maine State Seal she represented the fashionable woman of the day while maintaining her connection to the rugged and wild character of Maine.  And even showed a daring bit of ankle to prove her point.

Things haven't changed all that much.  Maine women still lead and innovate in countless ways, bringing  that unique Maine character into everything they do.
